My question of the week

Date January 18, 2005

I’ve been reading a lot on old friends’ blogs:

The first is from Jimmy Barnhill, my first friend in seminary, and the second from Tony Jones, who gave one of the best sermons I heard while in preaching classes at Fuller. It’s given me new life to re-engage with people who love theology, who wrestle with the changes in our culture, who are working to push the church toward faithful living out of the Kingdom of God.

I want to join the conversation. I want to learn, and I want to contribute. But…

Do I belong? Because what I’m called to do…(pastor in a traditional church and move us toward engaging a changing world) seems to be seen as futile among the emergant church folks. Is there room in the conversation for a fish out of water, a person who wants to transform what is rather than start over?

That’s my question.
